Introduction

To Me

This site displays my artwork. To me, art is an expression of my feelings, a media that enables me to channel my emotions and produce a piece that reflects these emotions.Through art I find relaxation and contemplation. My influences are Edvard Munch, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol. I also feel everyday life is an influence in the sense of events that affect us and provoke different feelings, thoughts and ideas. My Inspirations- Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol is a commercial artist and one of the more modern artists of the 20th century. He became the central figure in pop art which is a visual artistic movement. I love the use of colours and the retro aspect of Andy Warhols’ paintings. His pieces of art work grab my attention with their bright colours and famous images. I immediately warmed to his work as soon as I laid eyes on it. You can view his museum of work through visiting this website- http://www.warhol.org/. Andy Warhol has got to be my favourite artist of all time and I think this is because of his outlandish and rather controversial ideas which many people would be afraid to express. Another reason for my liking of Andy Warhol is reading through his biography and discovering Warhol had a unhappy childhood due to illness and through this developed phobias and fears which I find I can also relate to and he used art as an expression of his feelings.

When I view Edvard Munchs’ work there is an air of anxiety that haunts his work which I feel I connect with. I feel a lot of emotion when looking at his paintings and through reading about his life a lot of his emotions come through in his paintings which I admire. I love the varied use of colour in his work and yet the paintings still look realistic. He inspires me in my own work in trying to incorporate my feelings and emotions into my own work and try to portray them through colour and pattern.
